Concrete beam falls on combi on Calle 60 near Av. Colón

Three people traveling in a FUTV combi were injured when a  concrete beam fell from the construction site at Paseo 60, a mall under construction in Merida’s hotel zone.

The incident occurred just after 10 a.m. Thursday when the route 60 North combi, license plates A-135-YSA, passed through the area of ​​the new building, which at the end of 2017 became the grave of five construction workers when a column was accidentally hit by a crane operator.

Passengers said they heard a strong impact on the windshield, and that the driver stopped a few meters later, just before reaching the traffic lights of Av. Colon.

The combi was full and the most affected was a girl who was traveling with the driver, because she was hit by pieces of glass. However, no serious injuries were reported.

Four passengers stayed at the scene awaiting the insurer of the van to get their pass to the hospital.

Security personnel of Paseo 60 refused to provide information about what happened, claiming that “they did not know what happened”.
