The Public Security Commissioner (SSP), Luis Felipe Saidén Ojeda, assured that resources will not be spared to keep Yucatan safe, after this week’s operation in the hills around Motul, where six people were arrested for gunfire.

In an interview with the media, Saidén Ojeda said that the instruction of Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal is clear: that no resources are spared for the security of the State.

Some 250 elements of the SSP, Municipal Police of Motul, Army and Federal Police deployed in the operation between Wednesday and Thursday, to arrest all involved.

The state police helicopter was also deployed, in which Saidén Ojeda arrived at the scene last Wednesday.

In his message, Saidén Ojeda acknowledged the coordinated work of federal, state and municipal forces, who together managed to arrest six people who were firing 300 meters from the blacktop road.

“I must stress that people who come from other states to commit a crime, we will not allow it, I also stress that any element of any corporation that is attacked will work to stop offenders,” he said.

During the interview, which was published on the police’s social networks, the head of the SSP said that there was still a person in the forest, who was already located and that in the course of days he would be arrested.

Around two o’clock in the afternoon, the agents located the six subjects in the wooded area, which is part of the communitythe of Kopté near Motul.

The prolonged gunfire broke the tranquility of the inhabitants of the Motul municipality.

Saidén Ojeda insisted that the detainees were practicing target shooting with cardboard silhouettes south of Motul.

In addition, he specified that the agent who was injured in the head yesterday with the blow of a rifle butt by one of the subjects is already stable and under observation in the hospital.
