After citizen meetings, mayor vows resolution of Centro noise problem in first quarter 2019

Merida Mayor Renán Barrera Concha, in an interview with Punto Medio’s Manuel Pool, spoke of the meetings held with foreigners and businessmen who are immersed in a problem generated by the noise caused in the historic center, and offered to end the problem in the first quarter of next year.

 

“Three meetings have already been held with citizens, both with entrepreneurs of restaurant and bars and the neighbors,” said Barrera Concha.

 

He also stressed that noise regulations are ready and that the infrastructure for the application of the rule will begin to be required in January, so that at the end of the first quarter the conflict will be given a timely solution.

 

For this he said, everyone was heard in the Citizen Participation Secretariat, including the National Chamber of the Restaurant Industry and Seasoned Foods (Canirac) and all those who have an interest in the historic center.

 

The mayor also addressed the issue of security operations that in coordination with the Mexican Army will be carried out in the coming days for the Christmas festivities and also the intention not to increase the number of permits for the sale of pyrotechnics and protect Merida citizenship in this way.

 

In a quick assessment of his first one hundred days as mayor, he said that citizen participation councils have been established, the work program to be applied in the administration has been presented to the Iepac, in addition to the Municipal Development Plan, and that he is working on the Budget.

 

In this regard, he said that it has been possible to make an important advance in communication with citizens that, through the return of the Wednesday Citizen program, so they been able to express their needs and receive due attention and response.

 

And this direct contact with citizens will continue with the launch in January of the “The City in your Neighborhood” Program, which, he explained, already has the right platform to achieve the objective of solving the requests. It has not yet been defined if the visit will be made on Thursdays or Fridays, but it will be every 15 days.

 

In an impromptu press conference he explained that all those who pay their property tax will have no-cost insurance against theft or fire, which will be valid throughout the year, and he will also stage the traditional raffle of vehicles and appliances in order to encourage the payment of this tax in the first three months of 2019.
