From the first second of Monday October 1, the PAN party leader Mauricio Vila Dosal is the new governor of Yucatán.
His inauguration took place in the historic Teatro José Peón Contreras before members of the Legislative Power and special guests of Yucatecan and national society.
In an address, Vila sent his first official message as governor to Yucatecans and expressed his commitment to social, economic and political life for the coming years.
Work to adapt the stage of the theater began days ago to lodge in its interior the seat of the local Congress, for the swearing-in of the next state chief executive.
The event was expected to be attended by important personalities, such as Mexico’s Tourism Secretary, Enrique de la Madrid Cordero, who has been the representative of President Enrique Peña Nieto during his administration. The incoming Secretary of the Interior, Olga Sánchez, was also expected.
After the swearing-in, Vila, former Mérida mayor, sent a message to the entire state, as well as to the next federal administration, through various media.
To facilitate the events, the state Ministry of Public Security (SSP) mounted a special security operation and closed several streets in Merida’s Centro.
