Campeche will close 2018 with more than a million visitors thanks to the 31 congresses and conventions held in the state, as well as the Festival of the Historic Center that attracts hundreds of tourists, said the Secretary of Tourism, Jorge Manos Esparragoza.
“We hope to close this 2018 very well, trusting to surpass the figures of last year and be able to close with more than the one million 57 thousand tourists that was registered in 2017. Without a doubt the FICH, the conventions, the holiday periods and other events have worked and they have given good results,” the official said.
Manos Esparragoza stressed that in the last two months of 2018, sporting events have maintained good hotel occupancy, but that undoubtedly, the last eight or nine days of December mark the most tourist influx.
“Last year we were expecting 74 percent hotel occupancy and we were able to close at 81 percent, normally from December 23 to 30 we have a very good occupation in the capital city. The Historic Center Festival will help a lot.”
