The possible approval of same-sex unions, which would help guarantee the rights of homosexual couples, generates divergent positions, since some say the function of marriage is to perpetuate the species…//
A very controversial issue is related to the possible approval of equal marriages in Yucatan, a situation that, according to legislators who promote it, will help guarantee the rights of those who live as same-sex couples, which will include the opportunity to access a testamentary succession or, where appropriate, the health services of one’s partner. In contrast, representatives of groups that advocate for life and family ensure that equal marriages are derived from the gender ideology.
“They distort the true origin and objectives of this institution by placing it in the orbit of the gender ideology in which there is no male and female, and that, with the propaganda argument that there is a situation of discrimination based on sexual preference… (So) legislators that for the fear of losing electoral preferences and putting their future political aspirations at risk, they will vote for it, although it does not correspond to the majority of the population, but to a minority,” said the spokesperson for the Union for the Family, lawyer Marcos Vera Badías.
The archbishop of Yucatan, Gustavo Rodríguez Vega, commented that “people of the same sex who live together have always been and will be, but to call them equal marriage is another thing, because it is not”.
The archbishop continued, “They can live together, it has always happened, that the law is adjusted to give them the rights that are indispensable to lead a dignified life too, but to equip it as one the Church will never accept it, it simply respects it and asks the law to adjust to what is necessary so that they do not lack the respective rights, worthy of a human being.”
The prelate said that being in favor of equal marriage would be to lower the dignity of marriage itself.
“The people who take other undue measures, God will take them and he will judge them. There are different situations and decisions, and the Church respects these ways of life, but it is not possible to call it marriage,” he concluded.
For her part, the president of the group “40 days for life”, Mariana Schroeder, told Punto Medio that everyone is free to choose the way they want to live and with whom, but she stressed that one must not forget that there are always consequences, when you decide to go against nature.
“The function of marriage is to procreate children and perpetuate the species,” said the interviewee, who lamented that instead of legislating in favor of the family they are allocating resources to consent to the wishes of a minority. She said that there is a high risk that in the future, due to this type of whim, it is also contemplated to legalize pedophilia or some other issue that threatens the formation of future generations, who are currently exposed to the gender ideology that promotes sexuality issues in the schools.
