Former nurse devotes retirement to rescuing stray dogs in Tizimín

TIZIMÍN — The love she has for animals, particularly dogs, led Doña Daysi Alcocer Navarrete, 69, to allocate part of her pension to feed and house some of these strays.

Currently, he has 13 adults between males and females, as well as 6 puppies to which she provides croquettes every day and even buys milk for the 6 little ones, and besides she puts food and water on the door of her house for the little animals that roam the streets .

Ms. Daysi dedicated her life to being a nurse at the IMSS clinic, but after her retirement 11 years ago she dedicated herself to taking care of her animals and although some members of her family do not agree, she keeps protecting them and feeding them.

One of the main problems she has faced is that sometimes sick animals arrive and require veterinary medical attention, and for this she has the support of the veternarian Eddie Pérez, who attends them.

Another factor that prevents her from creating a shelter for these animals is the cost of food, because only to raise those she now shelters the cost is 450 pesos every two weeks, plus what she buys for the 6 puppies.

She asked that more people join and help her with the food for these “man’s best friends,”, whom she rescued from the street.

Ms. Daysi lives in an area of 46-B x 61 and 63 streets of the neighborhood Lázaro Cárdenas, almost opposite the Nubian terrace. To communicate with her call cell phone 9868667448, to donate food for the dogs or if someone wants to adopt a pet.
