“We will make Mérida a city that can compete directly with the best in the world, but at the same time seek to be sensitive to all Meridanos”, said Renán Barrera Concha, presenting the campaign axis “Mérida World City with Opportunities” related to his Safe Future Vision for Merida.

The candidate for the mayoralty of Merida of the National Action Party (PAN) and Movimiento Ciudadano spoke of his sixth and final axis of the campaign that includes actions for the economic development of Mérida, based on roots, culture and history.

Barrera announced that, as part of this axis, the Management Office for the Historic Center will be created, which will be in charge of reordering the coexistence of the citizens.

“Our goal is to make that coexistence functional, we want to embellish and preserve our Historic Center and seek more spaces of coexistence, entertainment and culture for the enjoyment of all Meridanos”, explained Barrera.

The candidate jointly of the PAN and Movimiento Ciudadano explained that this will be a decentralized municipal public agency of operation and administration of the historical center of Mérida, which will enjoy management autonomy, legal standing and its own assets to make it self-financing and self-managed.

“The Management Office of the Historical Center will aim to know, preserve, monitor, rescue and improve the Historic Center of the Municipality, as well as disseminate their values and promote research, management and implementation of strategic urban projects,” said the former mayor.

It will also have an influence on the generation of meeting and coexistence spaces, the procurement of economic resources, inter-institutional coordination, the inclusion and participation of citizens, so that they may endure and be honored as a universal historical testimony in favor of the quality of life of Meridanos and tourists that visit.
