Mexico alerts consumers about faults in Volkswagen, Audi and Toyota models

Mexico’s consumer protection office this week issued several quick alerts on possible faults in at least seven newly manufactured car models of the Volkswagen, Audi and Toyota brands, EFE news agency reported.

The models involved in the alerts, some 4,949 units marketed in Mexico, correspond to Vento 2017, Golf 2018 and GTI 2018, of Volkswagen; the Audi A4, A5, A6 and Q5 year 2018; and Toyota Camry 2018, Sienna 2017 and Highlander 2018.

The Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) stated that there are 4,250 “possibly affected” units in the Vento 2017, so the rings must be removed and replaced with new ones.

Wtih the Audi A4, A5 and A6, year 2018, there are 195 units possibly affected and they should be checked and if necessary the cooling system pump replaced.

A warning was also issued for the Golf and GTI, 2018, of Volkswagen, for 91 potentially affected units in which the air of the hydraulic brake system must be purged to eliminate any bubble residue.

In the case of Toyota, the first warning was for the 2018 Camry of which 13 units are possibly affected and for which an inspection on the pistons and, if necessary, the replacement of the engine assembly is offered as a solution.

There was also an alert for the Sienna 2017 and Highlander 2018, from Toyota, of which 39 and 11 units were sold in this country, respectively, and the replacement of the vacuum pump is offered as a solution.

In the case of Q5, 2018 there are 350 units possibly affected and it is offered as a solution to check, and in some cases repair, the rear braking system.
