“Pollution, destruction and lack of respect for our environment end now.” These were the words that resonated in Progreso on the fourteenth of January of this year, pronounced by the Municipal President of Progreso, Julian Zacarias Curi, when presenting the new ecological police of this municipality.
These words did not prove to be empty, because only several days later the inhabitants of Progreso and Chicxulub Puerto witnessed the fulfillment of the promise that speech.
This is because in 26th street of Chicxulub Puerto, Alejandro L. N. O., Juan M. C. B. and Manuel M. C., Progreso residents, were arrested for doing damage to the mangrove swamp, filling and building inside it.
