Yucatan influenza death toll rises to 12

During the First Extraordinary Session of the State Health Council, held Friday in Merida, the Health Services of Yucatan (SSY) reported that there are already 12 deaths from influenza in the state.

The deputy director of Public Health, Mirza Tec Kumul, said that 170 cases of the disease have been confirmed, in its variant AH1N1.

The meeting was headed by the secretary general of the government, Martha Góngora Sánchez, and the secretary of Health, Dr. Jorge Mendoza Mezquita.

The previously reported number of deaths was four, through last week.
