They insist on stopping pollution with education and legislation…//

Although he said that in Merida there are no concentrations that are above those established for good quality water, the Secretary of Urban Development and Environment (Seduma), Eduardo Batllori Sampedro, said there are municipal areas where the presence of agrochemicals harmful to health have been noted.
“You have to be careful. That is why we must call attention to avoid or control the use, misuse and abuse of agrochemicals and make appropriate provisions,” he said. This was confirmed after announcing the completion of the VI Marathon to collect empty containers of pesticides, the first marathon to collect obsolete pesticides and the first marathon to collect expired medicines, which will take place from September 3 to 14. During this administration, about 60 tons of containers have been collected, and it is estimated that in Mérida there are two tons of expired medicines and 600 kilos in the other municipalities that do not have an adequate final destination.
